How to Read a Recipe & Safety/Sanitation Scenarios

Take out your folder, pen/pencil. Read the start-up information and complete your bell ringer.

Objective: I will be able to understand how to read and recipe while following the basics of safety and sanitation by the end of the class period.


Agenda:
  1. Complete and Review: bell ringer 
  2. Review Presentation: How to Read a Recipe
    1. Dry and Liquid Measuring
  3. Grade and Review: How to Read a Recipe
  4. 2 Kitchen Safety and Sanitation Scenarios 
    1. Read each scenario aloud as a whole class
    2. Individually answer the questions
    3. Discuss answers as a whole class
    4. Move on to the next scenario!
  5. Extra Time OR ME Opportunity: Write your own kitchen scenario with at least 6 errors!
  6. Discuss TMW: Go over recipe, assign job roles, pre-lab and evaluation forms
Homework: 
1. Parent Kitchen Permission Slips (if not turned in)
2. Finish kitchen scenarios and ME Opportunity!
3. Sewing Projects (if not complete!)

Bell Ringer: 

1. What are the main parts of a recipe?
2. Why is it important to read a recipe carefully?
